I have concluded that track point moving on its own is not a hardware issue rather it is software issue present on most Linux distributions. Earlier I thought it is a hardware issue with my new Thinkpad but when I observed the same issue in my office dell machine with Ubuntu 16.04 installed then I realized it can’t be a hardware issue. On my office dell machine, I never observed the issue while working on windows OS.

So if you are facing an issue like me and felt it could be a hardware issue then try with Windows OS once because service centre guys will only debug on windows OS, at least in Bangalore, India.
